20 September 14:00 - Tasting panel experience Zwolle
The tasting panel is the beating heart of the Society. Normally, it is a select group of members and experts who determine whether a cask of whisky meets the Society standard — a responsible task that many a member has dreamt of.
Now it’s your turn!
One of our most beloved panel chairs was Robin Laing, known for his colorful tasting notes, in which he took members on a journey through his own memories and experiences — inventive, sometimes mischievous, but always spot on. Can you write a tasting note that does him justice?
During this panel experience, you will taste blind, in small groups, exactly as the real panel does. Together you will write tasting notes, come up with titles, and decide whether a whisky deserves approval. Of course, we will guide you through the process. You will present the results to our honorary panel chair and judge: Hans Offringa!
There is a small prize for the best title and tasting note of the evening — but above all, this is a unique opportunity to take a look behind the scenes of the Society, and above all: to enjoy yourself to the fullest.

On October 2, it's happening again... Tony van Rooijen returns to Patrick’s Whiskybar in Zwolle for a new, special tasting.
Which whiskies will be on the table?
We'll keep that a secret for now. But those who know Tony, know he always comes with something special. Surprising, thoughtful, and with stories that give the glasses just that little bit of extra depth.

During this special Malt Stories evening, everything revolves around aging, patience, and character.
This edition is simple and exciting at the same time: all whiskies are 10 years old.
Patrick takes you through 7 whiskies with age, depth, and a story and talks about:
- what time truly does to a whisky
- when aging becomes magic (…and when it’s too much)
- the difference between youthful power and mature elegance
- how wood, tranquility, and environment shape flavor
You taste no haste — only layers of vanilla, fruit, wood, spices, and sometimes smoke.

23 October 20:00 - An evening with Aberargie & Morrison Scotch Whisky Distillers
On Friday, October 23, we will have a special visit at Patrick’s Whisky Bar. Thomas Cuthbert of Morrison Scotch Whisky Distillers / Aberargie Distillery is coming to Zwolle to personally host a special whisky tasting.
And we’ll start the evening right away with something new...
We will open the tasting with the two latest releases from Aberargie, which will only be released at the end of September. A great opportunity to get to know this relatively young Highland distillery and discover the direction Aberargie is taking with its own single malt.
After that, we’ll dive further into Morrison’s warehouses. We’ll taste different styles, ages, and cask maturations from their range. From bourbon and Oloroso sherry to a combination of PX, Palo Cortado and Oloroso, and from new American oak to an impressive 27-year-old Glen Grant from 1996.
Throughout the evening, Thomas will guide us through the stories behind the whiskies, the selected casks, and, of course, Aberargie itself.

4 December 20:00 - Mystery whisky tasting for charity
Six mysterious whiskies, six different characters, and one wonderful cause.
On Friday, December 4, Jason ten Klooster is organizing a special mystery whisky tasting at Hotel Fidder – Patrick’s Whisky Bar for 3FM Serious Request. All proceeds from ticket sales will be donated to the Dutch Burns Foundation.
During this evening, you will taste six carefully selected Scottish whiskies, bottled by the renowned Thompson Brothers. From fruity and approachable to spicy and smoky: every whisky has its own character. Which distilleries are behind the bottles will remain a secret until the moment they are poured.
Can you recognize the style, the region, or perhaps even the distillery? Tasting, discovering, and guessing together are at the heart of the evening. The tasting is suitable for both experienced whisky lovers and curious beginners. We also have a few wonderful surprises in store for you.
